January 5, 1 Peter 1:2
The apostle Peter, writing in the Spirit, reminded the suffering Christians that they were “elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father:” This means that they were specially chosen by God. From eternity past, God had planned and chosen certain people to become Christians. What a wonderful revelation! What a comfort too!
Notice also that the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit, are at work in the salvation of a person. It is the Father who elects, the Son who died to reconcile sinners to God and the Spirit who works in the hearts of sinners to cleanse and give understanding. What a mighty power is at work here! The entire process of election involves all three persons of the Trinity. How wonderful it is to know we are saved!
There is an interesting chorus that goes like this:
_____________ by the Father,
_____________ by the Son,
_____________ by the Spirit,
I’m His very own.
Fill in the blanks above with these helping words:- Sealed, Chosen, Purchased
