MARCH 17 2 Peter 1:16-18

Some unbelievers think that the gospel accounts, including the many miracles of Jesus, are not true. They think that these are just some fables. Peter here defends the gospel. He was personally selected by Jesus to be His disciple. He had a personal relationship with Jesus and had intimate knowledge of Him. He was with Jesus for three years and can be trusted as someone who was an eyewitness of the majesty of Christ! So when we read this book as well as other books of the bible, we can fully rely on them.

Peter also makes mention of a most important event, the Transfiguration of Christ. Remember Jesus chose Peter, James, and John to accompany Him up the Mount of Olives? There on the holy mount, our Lord was transfigured before the three of them. His face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as light, exceeding white as snow. Then a voice from heaven declared, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Both by sight and sound, our Lord’s divine majesty was established beyond doubt.

Thought: What a privilege to earn from Peter who saw Jesus personally!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to know that the Bible is true, and apply this to my life. This I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
