DECEMBER 4, Genesis 2:7-8

On the sixth day, the Lord God created man from out of the dust of the ground. Then God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man lived. That was how the first man was created.

Adam was created miraculously. He was never an infant, never your age; he just became a man immediately! Like the plants and trees, like the fish of the sea and the fowls of heaven, and the earth, he was created with the appearance of age. That is why many scientists think that the earth is much older than it actually is.

Why did God not make Adam a boy, then have him grow up and mature into a man? Answer – because God knows best that Adam needed to be a man to take on the responsibilities given to him. You see, God being God knows the perfect timing for everything. Had God made Adam a boy, Adam would not have been able to bear the responsibilities God gave to him.

Sometimes we fret about timing. Perhaps your father has lost his job and the family may be going through a difficult patch. God is aware of it, but He has allowed it. Perhaps your grandma or another loved one has been ill for sometime, and although you have been praying for recovery, it seems to be overdue.

Is God not able to hear your prayer? Does God not care? Sometimes, although it could seem so, remember that God’s timing is the best. God cares and God wants the best for us. At times, although it may appear that God is slow to act, what He wants to do is to teach us patience and reliance on Him.

Remember the creation of Adam. If God knows Adam needs the strength and maturity of a man, He will make Adam a man, and not a boy. Likewise, if God knows you or your family needs something, He will provide.

Thought: God’s timing is the best timing.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder that Your timing is always the best. May I learn to depend more and more on You and to commit any problems and cares to You, my Creator and King. This I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
