THE FIRST INTERVIEW WITH GOD AFTER THE FALL

DECEMBER 12, Genesis 3:8-13

After their fall into sin, Adam & Eve were ashamed and they fled from the presence of God. Before their fall, they were delighted to hear the sound of His footsteps. But now they were filled with fear, and they hid from the Lord. They felt a sense of shame and hopelessness. They could not hope to escape the punishment of the sin that they deserved.

It was God who called to them. God’s first aim was to convince them of their wickedness. He did it tenderly, preferring that they confess of their own accord rather than to be forced to acknowledge their sin. After Adam confessed to his sin, he put the blame on Eve who had given the forbidden fruit to him. It is sad that the human heart was already “deceitful above all things and desperately wicked”, because Eve also was quick to blame the serpent. So, the guilty pair did not at once come humbly to God to confess their sin.

But there is always mercy and forgiveness with the Lord. Genesis 3:15 foretells that a Saviour, born of the woman’s seed, would crush Satan who had deceived them.

Write ‘T’ for True and ‘F’ for False against these statements:

  1. God was full of anger against Adam and Eve for their sin.
  2. Adam and Eve were full of shame and guilt.

  3. They blamed others for their sin.

  4. There is always mercy and forgiveness with the Lord.

Thought: Repent and confess and God will forgive.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please have mercy and forgive me of my sins. I know I need You every hour so teach me Lord to always depend on You. This I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
